Early mark making in early years

Early mark making in early years. This is how early literacy skills develop. Children explore freely, using varied materials and opportunities to develop a dominant hand, create patterns and shapes and explore movement and grip. This then develops into creating detailed drawings and letter formation. We make marks in sand using brushes and wood, in mud using sticks in nature, on paper using crayons and pencils and using chubby chalks outside on different surfaces!
